Botswana Teachers Savings and Credit Co-operative Society is registered under the Co-operative Societies Act No. 5 of 1989.

The Botswana Teachers Savings and Credit Co-operative Society Ltd was established on the 29th November 1993. The Society was formed primarily to bring together a social security for teachers in Botswana. The Society exists to promote thrift among its members by affording them an opportunity for accumulating their savings, and to create a source of funds from which loans can be made exclusively for provident and productive purpose, at fair and reasonable rates of interest thereby enabling them to use and control their money for their mutual benefits.

ORGANISATIONAL STRUCTURE

The Botswana Teachers SACCOS is managed through an elected Management Board.

The Management Board has nine (9) members which comprise; the Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, and six additional members.

Other elected committees for the Society are the Supervisory and Credit committees comprising of three members and five members respectively.

GOVERNANCE

The Botswana Teachers SACCOS adheres to the superior cooperatives governance standards.

All members of the Management Board are responsible for exercising honesty and integrity, while observing policies and procedures as set out in the Acts and Bye-Laws.

The Management Board delegates the responsibility for the management of the BT SACCOS to the manager.

The members of the society elect the Management Board members at an Annual General Meeting (AGM) for a three year term.
